Fifth Annual Game Maker’s Sketchbook Showcase Submissions Now Open

Dedicated to the advancement and recognition of interactive arts, The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) has officially opened submissions for the fifth annual Game Maker’s Sketchbook.

Co-founded by the non-profit industry association AIAS alongside creative production company iam8bit and communications firm fortyseven, the Game Maker’s Sketchbook exhibit sets out to celebrate excellence in video game art and visual design.

Note that the Game Maker’s Sketchbook is collecting submissions in Storyboard, Environment Art, Character Art, Iconography, Curiosities, and Impact categories. 

Looking back, previously recognized art from indie to AAA, including works from Marvel Rivals, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, One Move Away, and The Midnight Walk. 

A jury of respected game artists, curators, and representatives from both within the games industry and adjacent sectors (including animation, film, and fine art), will judge submissions.

Selected art will then be exhibited at Summer Game Fest Play Days 2026 in Los Angeles, California.

Meggan Scavio, President of AIAS, said the following:

“The Game Maker’s Sketchbook showcase was created to celebrate and uplift the artists behind the most beloved games of the year, while providing an opportunity for fans to enjoy copies of the artwork they love and support the industry.

We look forward to hosting a gallery of the selected works at the Summer Game Fest Play Days once again.”

Note that submissions will be open through March 26, artwork submitted must correspond with a video game title published publicly on or after January 1, 2025.
