Denshattack! Review – The Track to Happiness

Skill, speed, and style await with the summer release of Undercoders and Fireshine Games‘ Denshattack!

See whether one should ride the rails this summer with our review…

Denshattack! Review – The Track to Happiness

Following young and plucky Emi Araki, Denshattack! has players controlling their very own gravity-defying train as a ramen delivery girl-turned-Denshattack! member in a colorful dystopian Japan.

Pretty wild premise, yeah?

Denshattack! sheer energy and heart captivates, always having players moving forward in their multi-wheeled wonder (stickers optional, but encouraged).

Sure, braking prevents players from (literally) flying off the rails, but Denshattack! always requires players to stay alert.

While the levels are fairly short, this speed will have players always staying alert as they jump, side-step, wall ride, stomp, manual, keep balance, and lay on the horn they simultaneously pull off the most stylish of tricks and get those rookie numbers up in the combo meter and clear the most daring of Dares.

We have to reiterate the “style” part – Denshattack! absolutely oozes style.

It’s crazy enough to grind rails as it is with multi-track drifting, but players will also be performing maneuvers fighting game style as they set out to get a better rank. There’s even a “Tricktionary” to keep track of one’s many moves!

Those who joined Jet Set Radio’s Rudies can easily see parallels in Denshattack!, but other unique properties like Street Fighter and even Sonic Adventure 2 all make Denshattack! truly one-of-a-kind. If you had/have a SEGA Dreamcast (fantastic taste!), you will absolutely love Denshattack!

On that note, this title’s competitions against rival groups is well worth the trip. From mecha boss fights against the Dashing Queens (yep) to knocking back giant baseballs (also yep), to crashing a live kabuki play three times (…yep), there’s never a dull moment in this title.

A major shoutout also needs to be made to Denshattack’s killer epic funk soundtrack. Featuring incredible talent including (but certainly not limited to!) Tee Lopes, Sean Bialo, Andrew One, and 2 Mello, Denshattack!’s soundtrack is easily a contender for best OST of the year – and it’s only July!

Seriously, listen to the “Denshattack! Bootleg EP” above and tell us otherwise…

Proving that style is eternal, Denshattack! brings the heat and incredible tunes this summer with the best multi-track drifting this side of Japan.
