Apex Legends: Amped Bringing Reworked Olympus, Wildcard Updates, and More

Players will be able to feel the rush in Respawn Entertainment and EA’s Apex Legends’ Amped, featuring a reworked Olympus, movement and Wildcard updates, and more starting November 4.

A high-velocity playground, Apex Legends: Amped’s reworked Olympus has been rebuilt for better flow, elevated gameplay, and safer positioning for all players.

On that note, this Apex Legends: Amped update introduces four new POIs for Legends to explore…

  • One can storm the sprawling Somers University campus as they utilize its Horizon lifts to seize the high ground.
  • Players can also navigate the sprawling chasm of the Gravity Engine as they make plays on its floating platforms
  • Players can also choose to zipline over the void of the new Stabilizer.
  • Finally, one can traverse the floating buildings of Dockyard at break-neck speeds.

Michael Shannon, Senior Level Designer, said the following:

“Olympus has always been one of Apex Legends’ most iconic maps.

While it’s still a fan favorite for many, its wide-open fields and sparse cover makeit difficult for this map to shine in a competitive setting.

We’ve focused on transforming the open areas of Olympus into exciting new POIs that reward skillful play, and resolving problematic rotations with terrain reworks and minor POIs.

For players looking for high kill games, new POIs like Gravity Engine and Somers University bring new hot drop potential to the map, adding Horizon lifts, zip rails and an emphasis on movement.

Combined with other countless small improvements, we think there is something for everyone in this update.”

Apex Legends: Amped also brings with it the new Mantle Boost, giving players a forward movement boost as they climb up from ledges or walls.

The Trident is also getting improved collision and dedicated vehicle health (including visual effects), thereby making them more fun to drive – and more satisfying to fight.

Eric Canavese, Lead BR Designer, said the following:

“Mantle Boosts have been in the game for some time, but the movement isn’t easy to pull off and a player would never know it without outside knowledge.

We’re adding a Mantle Boost indicator so players can easily see when and how to activate the high-octane movement ability, opening up the mechanic and introducing new ways to play for a much wider base of plÍayers.

In the name of velocity, it only felt right to bring back in the hot wheels, which brought with it some necessary quality-of-life changes like visual damage and better collision.”

From November 18 to December 16, Wildcard will break the sound barrier in the Supersonic Event. This action-packed mode will get a boost of adrenaline with an updated Olympus map, a Mythic R-99 that fires a Missile Swarm, and speed-boosting Wild Card upgrades to help you outrun – and outplay – one’s opponents.
