Allen the Alien Joining Invincible VS’ Roster

A fan-favorite character, Skybound Entertainment’s in-house studio Quarter Up has confirmed that Allen the Alien will join Invincible VS’ roster.

A true jokester, Allen the Alien cracks quippy one-liners in-between punches. A powerful “Striker” fighter, Allen the Alien is able to utilize his mobility, superhuman strength, and grappling ability alongside his sheer Unopan strength.

On that note, Allen the Alien excels in mix-up scenarios, ones that allow him to bait fighters and hit them with his armored stance in what amounts to a high-octane gameplay style worth mastering.

Learn more with the Allen the Alien gameplay trailer below:

Allen The Alien Gameplay Trailer | Open Beta Reveal

Mike Willette, Executive Producer of Invincible VS, said the following:

“Allen the Alien is everyone’s favorite extraterrestrial.

He’s a fan-favorite for a reason, and bringing him into Invincible VS was always a given. One second he’s cracking a funny joke, the next he’s absolutely demolishing you in combat — you never quite know what you’re going to get from the guy.

We’re beyond excited to have him be playable at SXSW so fans can get an early look at his alien action.”

Robert Kirkman, co-creator of Invincible, also said the following:

“Allen is an important piece of the Invincible puzzle, and he’s going to be having a huge spring between season four of the animated series and Invincible VS.

He’s got the jokes, but he backs up his sharp wit with even sharper hits and leaves opponents looking like the punchline.

We’re really excited to see what players can do with him in our Open Beta soon.”

As Mike Willette mentioned, for those on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, an Invincible VS Open Beta featuring Allen the Alien is set to happen April 9 to April 11 – learn more via its official website.

It will also make an appearance at the SXSW pop-up, which is running from March 12 to March 14!

Invincible VS is set to release for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Xbox on PC April 30.

EVERSPACE Team at ROCKFISH Games Receives Multi-Million Euro Grant For Next Project

Hamburg-based indie game studio ROCKFISH Games has been awarded an €8 million grant from the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) to develop the next entry in the acclaimed EVERSPACE franchise.

This grant is currently the largest yet given to a German video game developer from this fund and will be paid out over five years. In turn, ROCKFISH Games will be able to create multiple new roles at the studio.

ROCKFISH Games CEO and Co-Founder Michael Schade said the following:

“We are beyond pleased to receive this grant from the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space.

Over the last decade, ROCKFISH Games has been among the country’s top video game studios, showing Germany can deliver award-winning titles through teamwork, strong technical knowledge, and innovative design.”

ROCKFISH Games CEO and Co-Founder Michael Schade added:

“Ongoing investment in the video game industry shows Germany is aiming to take its place as one of the top countries for video game development.

By supporting this creative industry, Germany not only demonstrates its technical and artistic strength, but also promotes growth in programming, design, visual effects, music, art, storytelling, and many other disciplines that contribute to game creation.

As around 85% of our revenue comes from outside Germany and, as a fully independent self-publishing studio, all ROCKFISH Games profits are taxed here, this funding is also a strong deal for German taxpayers.”

Schade continued:

“EVERSPACE has grown into a franchise that means a great deal to our team and the global community of space game fans, so it is exciting to confirm that our next project will once again take players into this universe.

Thanks to this substantial federal grant, we can significantly expand the scope of our ambitions for the next EVERSPACE title, invest in entirely new gameplay experiences that we have already proven in our prototype, and grow our team to deliver the best possible space action experience for our fans.”

Schade concluded:

“Despite record profits globally, the video game industry faced significant challenges in recent years, with many studio closures around the world, including in Germany.

For independent developers like ROCKFISH Games, this support is a crucial foundation for growth, competitiveness with lower-cost regions, and long-term stability.

Independence has allowed us to retain creative control and to pivot quickly based on team and player feedback, which has been central to developing the EVERSPACE franchise.

With the backing of this new grant, we can keep focusing on what we do best: making great games for dedicated niche audiences.”
