Earth vs. Mars Demo Now Available

A turn-based strategy game of alien invasion and genetic engineering with today’s release of Relic Lab’s Earth vs. Mars demo on Steam.

Earth vs. Mars was designed by a small team of passionate Relicans, setting out to pay homage to their favorite strategy games – albeit with the addition of a Relic twist.

On that note, the new Earth vs. Mars demo features three tactical skirmish maps, three unique commanders (each with two special abilities), and an in-game help database for a full tactical briefing.

Game Director Philip Harris said the following:

“We are excited for players to get their hands on our first Relic Labs title Earth vs Mars.

While we’re continuing to develop the large-scale strategy titles Relic is known for, we wanted to create an opportunity for Relic to try out different ideas in the strategy genre with a smaller scope and share them with players, and Relic Labs allows us to do that.

We hope that both longtime Relic fans and new players enjoy Relic’s twist on classic turn-based strategy games.”

On that note, one can get the Earth vs. Mars demo via its official Steam page.

Wheel World Review

First shown roughly two years ago, Messhof and Annapurna Interactive’s Wheel World is bringing the summer vibes.

Should players get on their bikes and ride?

Wheel World Review

Wheel World follows the biking adventure of Kat and Skully.

On that note, Kat is a rider and Skully is a floating skull (naturally) looking for legendary bike parts.

This dynamic duo teams up to find said parts and gather some rep in the process. In this world, rep is your currency, used to earn legendary parts.

Looking for rep? One will need to win bike races across this game world.

While Wheel World’s story isn’t incredibly deep, all of its characters masterfully fit its world.

Most races come from biker groups that want to test your skills.

However, winning in Wheel World is just part of earning your rep. To get it all, players will have to beat challenge times, collect the K A T letters, and take first place.

At first, players will be able to race with any bike style and still win. Eventually, tracks become different terrain, turns become tighter, and oncoming traffic poses a threat. It’s still pretty easy with the right parts, but it’s always fun to win.

As players win races in Wheel World, one will get additional parts to pick from. One has the ability to swap one’s tires, handlebars, frame, chain, and more. Each raises various stats like power, grip, and aerodynamics.

In addition, certain parts pack perks, and one can mix and match to really get the stats they so desire. Be sure to keep a lookout for some fun parts as well!

The gameplay itself in Wheel World is pretty simple – players will hold the pedal button, steer, and control the brakes. While there is a boost, the only jump comes from hitting ramps.

Wheel World handles perfectly…assuming you have some points in your grip. Multiple times, we’d get the feeling when on a long highway – like we’re focused – but it comes effortlessly.

It’s very relaxing.

When not racing, Wheel World lets you explore the open world and find jumps and hidden tracks, along with extra parts. A lot of these count towards side guides, which are given to you by Cyclorp.

Let’s say one hits five jumps; Cyclorp will then reward the player with tickets. One can then use these tickets to go buy new parts from the vendors out and about.

Some vendor parts can really improve your stats, so it pays to go exploring.

The other thing about Wheel World’s open world is that it isn’t bloated. Everything fits, and it makes sense why you’d have a ramp in certain spots.

Everything is close enough that you only need to ride maybe a couple of minutes to get to it. There are fast travel points in every new zone so that you can get right back to the action. Everything fits together perfectly, and it really is one of the best worlds to ride around in.

While minor, we do feel Wheel World could use a jump button. In addition, its AI sometimes pushes into the player a strange way, flinging one off to the side. It’s almost like an invisible wall forces one there, costing a few races. That being said, there were no crashes or bugs during our playthrough.

Get on your bike and ride – Wheel World is a sheer joy, and is one of 2025’s most relaxing games.

Survival-Crafting Colony Sim Oceaneers Announced

Set within a flooded world of unstable islands, Barrel Smash Studios has announced their new survival crafting colony-sim Oceaneers.

Giving players sparse resources and limited island space, planning in Oceaneers is absolutely essential as players construct workstations, manage food production, and secure drinkable water.

Oh, and staying above water in a literal sense too, of course.

Learn more with the official gameplay trailer for Oceaneers below:

Oceaneers – Official Gameplay Trailer

Oceaneers developer James Thomas said the following:

“After first concepting the idea back in January 2023, it’s exciting to be launching a second PC title on Steam.

As huge fans of colony sims and crafting survival games, it’s been a fun challenge figuring out how to smoothly integrate story and objectives into these very sandboxy genres while still keeping replayability high.

We grew up in the golden age of Sierra and LucasArts games, and we hope players enjoy this extra layer of quirkiness on top of the mechanics they already love.”

Note that there will also be a public playtest of Oceaneers via its Steam page August 5

Meanwhile, the Steam Early Access (via PC) launch of Oceaneers is slated for 2026.

In the interim, all those looking to join the conversation can check out the official Discord channel.
